Progressive Building Society raises over £100,000 for charity

08 February, 2016

Progressive Building Society, Northern Ireland’s largest locally-owned financial institution has announced that it donated over £110,000 to fourteen local charities in Northern Ireland in 2015.

Progressive significantly exceeded the pledge it gave in February 2015 of donating a minimum of £70,000 to the charities within the calendar year, with staff from Progressive’s twelve branches across Northern Ireland, and the head office in Belfast organising and hosting a series of fundraising events.

The fourteen Northern Ireland charities who benefited from the donations included Alzheimer’s Society, Cardiac Risk in the Young (C.R.Y), NI Hospice, Down’s syndrome Association, Tinylife, Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, Leukemia & Lymphoma NI, Action MS, Cancer Fund for Children, P.I.P.S, Chest Heart & Stroke, MacMillan, Marie Curie and Simon Community.

Fundraising and awareness events that staff organised included a sponsored dog walk, a collection day at a local shopping centre, ziplining, abseiling, Run Mucker Run, fun runs, Sober October, quizzes, raffles, tea and coffee mornings, and many more.

Chief Executive Darina Armstrong commented “I am extremely proud of the staff at Progressive, they have worked tirelessly to raise funds for their chosen charities, together with the help of Progressive we have made a significant difference to the lives of children, teenagers and adults living across Northern Ireland.”
