Coronavirus update: How you can manage your Savings Bond account

Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the Society is making it easier for you to manage your savings bond accounts without having to visit a branch.

01 June, 2020

Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the Society is making it easier for you to manage your savings bond accounts without having to visit a branch.

If you have a Fixed or Variable Rate Savings Bond which is coming to the end of its term, it will automatically rollover on maturity into a new Fixed or Variable Rate Bond with a similar term and at the interest rate currently available. You do not need to take any further action. You will have received a maturity letter giving you information about your new rollover Bond.

To provide our Members with additional flexibility at this difficult time we have put the following temporary measure in place.

The normal 14-day rollover period detailed in your maturity letter will not be enforced. You may therefore advise the Society any time up to 31st August 2020 if you wish to close your bond or transfer your bond to another provider without loss of interest or penalties applying. After 31st August 2020, normal terms and conditions will apply in relation to withdrawals and early closure.

Withdrawing funds from a maturing bond

If you wish to make a withdrawal from a maturing bond, the following two options are currently available to you:

  • Call into your local branch with your passbook and photographic identification
  • If you are unable to call into your local branch, you can post your passbook and maturity instructions to one of our branches and we can issue you with a cheque.

Transferring an existing ISA Bond to a Cash ISA Bond

If you have an ISA Bond, it will automatically rollover into our Cash ISA 5, which is an immediate access account.

If you wish to transfer your maturing ISA bond into another Cash ISA Bond, you must print and complete both the ISA Application Form and ISA Transfer Form below. Please post both forms to your local branch along with your passbook. Alternatively, you may visit one of our branches with these documents.ISA Application Form

Move your ISA to another provider

If you wish to move your ISA to another provider, you must contact the new provider in the first instance, and they will arrange the transfer for you.
